ASIAN AMERICAN EXPO 2008 USHERS IN YEAR OF RAT
Recognized as one of the largest Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations in the West, the Asian American Expo 2008 now in its 27th anniversary is slated for January 19th (Saturday) and January 20th (Sunday) at the Pomona Fairplex. Every year more than 100,000 Asian people are expected to attend this spectacular trade show and to celebrate the Lunar New Year festivities and celebrations.
Twenty-Four years ago, the Rosemead-based Chinese Overseas Marketing Service, Inc. organized of the Asian American Expo to share a living cultural heritage and to promote a better understanding among people of different backgrounds through the celebration of the Asian Lunar New Year Festival. The expo features more than 800 booths in Five (5) large exhibition halls – Buildings 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 showcasing services in the financial, insurance, medical, health, Asian foods, telecommunication, banking, etc. Featured products come in the wide range of cosmetics, health food, jewelry, show cars, hi-tech electronic and computer equipment/accessories, household equipment, etc.
“The Expo successfully builds a two-way dialogue between the Asian booming market and the U.S. marketers,” says Mr. Alan Kao, President of the Company. “It also provides positive direct one-on-one contact opportunities between sellers and consumers.” The Expo also offers three (3) food courts where authentic traditional Asian foods are sold. Food lovers will have an opportunity to sample a wide selection of mouthwatering Asian delicacies to tease their taste buds. They can look forward to delicious food like Chinese Chow-Mien, Orange Chicken, Beef Broccoli, Stir-Fry Vegetables, Dumplings, Pot stickers, Tapioca Pearl Drinks, exotic slush drinks, Japanese Sushi, Vegetarian food, Egg-rolls, Crepes, Asian pancakes, etc.
The Expo offers exciting, dramatic, colorful and spectacular live traditional musical performances on the seven (7) stages set up throughout the buildings. This is non-stop for the whole two (2) show days. We have more than 80 groups of entertainers and performers to entertain the crowds. As for this year’s highlights we have invited several famous singers to perform a live concert. The entertainment includes cooking demonstrations, Japanese Taiko, Native Malaysian dances, Thai traditional dances, Flamingo dancing, Sambala Samba (Brazilian) dancing, ballroom dancing, etc. The lion and dragon dances are a must for the Lunar New Year celebrations and to usher in the New Year.
Building 7 is devoted and dedicated to the Asian American Food Expo. The Asian American Food Expo is the largest food & beverage show that brings together vendors and consumer. Along with Asian American Expo, it ranked the top five largest trade shows in Southern California and best in the Asian communities. Due to the fast growth of the Asian population, the event is held in Pomona Fairplex, California in order to provide an excellent opportunity that you cannot afford to miss.
Building 8 is devoted and dedicated to all pet and animal lovers, young and old. We offer a petting zoo with adorable cuddly animals like goats, sheep, llamas, ponies, pigs, rabbits, etc. Pet vendors will also offer a variety of dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, birds, reptiles, etc for sale.
We are also offering free samples of the traditional sweet dumplings as this is a must to celebrate the New Year. Also we are giving out the official large red bags for all the attendees to store their purchases and goodies. We are offer an exciting Grand Prize Drawing for all attendees with purchase of an admission tickets. We do hourly drawings at Building 6 on Stage 6.
Admission tickets are sold only at the ticket booths on the show site. The charges for admission are $8.00 for adults; $6.00 for senior citizens and children ages 3 onwards. Our Company is offering a $1.00 off discount coupon tickets which can be picked up at our office located in Rosemead, restaurants, banks, 99 Ranch markets, etc.
